That means we dedicate close to 1.5 per cent of our annual pre-tax earnings to community, non-profit and charitable programs. In addition to supporting our established community partners. We strongly encourage employee volunteerism. Our Community Partner Award contributes $1,000 corporate grant to registered Canadian charities that our employees are involved with.

Our established charity partners

United Way

An annual campaign that gives employees the opportunity to support their local United Way. In 2008, we raised $1.4 million for local United Way agencies across Canada.

Boys and Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada is a national charity that Future Shop has been associated with since 2001.

The partnership is a great fit providing opportunities for youth in local communities across the country and has evolved over the past four years as we continue to find ways to positively impact clubs and club members. Please visit www.futureshop.ca/community for further information.

We also help drive a Holiday Hamper program for 31 families in need across the Vancouver Lower Mainland. Employees "adopt" a family to provide them with hampers for the holiday season. The hampers are delivered by Boys and Girls Club representatives just before Christmas, to be opened by the families on Christmas Eve.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada
With the opening of the first Best Buy store in Canada in 2002, Best Buy formed a strong national partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. This partnership is aimed at providing support to individual member agencies in communities where we have a presence as well as National office initiatives and programs. Since the formation of this relationship, Best Buy has contributed over $1 million to agencies across the country. Please visit www.bestbuy.ca/community for further information.

Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver's "Bowl for Big Brothers Classic" is their largest annual fundraiser, supporting mentoring programs for children and youth in the Greater Vancouver area. This past year, with the active support of Department Champions, more than 230 Best Buy Canada Ltd. associates raised $45,000 - including a dollar for dollar corporate match - surpassing our 2007 contribution by $5,000!

Individual Donations & Sponsorship Requests

In an effort to maximize Best Buy Canada Ltd.’s national programs with the United Way and other pre-selected charities, community groups and not-for-profit organizations, we unfortunately are unable to support the many individual requests received from worthy organizations for financial or product donation support.

As we receive a large volume of requests we appreciate your understanding if we are unable to accommodate you and thank you for thinking of us.
